ABOUT CLAI

CLAI

The music came first — long before the world around it had taken its present form. For many years, music has been a constant process of experimenting, building, stripping things apart and starting again. Electronic music became the natural language: a place where sound could be shaped into something that did not always need words or a clear explanation.

For a long time, the visual world surrounding the music was much more restrained. Grey forms. Empty spaces. Black and white. Something human, but deliberately incomplete.

CLAI gradually emerged from that world.
Not as a sudden transformation, but through love, heartbreak, struggle, change and the things that quietly shape a person over time. The anonymous grey person slowly became more recognisable. Layers appeared. Colour entered. What had previously been hidden began to show itself.

That evolution eventually led to the CLAI that exists today.

The world around him remains controlled — black, white, grey, simple spaces and very few distractions. Against that restraint, the colour becomes more important.

Colour is not used as a code where one shade represents one emotion. It is closer to how we actually experience things. Different states overlap, shift and exist at the same time. Calm can exist beside anxiety. Warmth beside discomfort. Euphoria beside something heavier.

The music works the same way. It shifts between restraint and intensity, often carrying more than one feeling at once — longing, hope, fear, tenderness, anger, loss, euphoria. Sometimes they sit quietly beside each other. Sometimes they collide.

Over time, sound and image have become increasingly difficult to separate.

The visual work is not simply artwork made after the music is finished. The spaces, movement, colour, materials and recurring details belong to the same process. Sometimes an image begins with a sound. Sometimes a sound suggests a place, a texture or a movement. One influences the other.

The current chapter of CLAI makes that relationship more visible than ever.

Projects such as PROLOGUE, THRESHOLD, FRACTURE and EPILOGUE follow an evolution rather than simply existing as individual releases. Formation, connection, fracture and what remains afterwards become part of both the music and the visual world surrounding it.

And CLAI continues to change.

There is no finished version to arrive at.

The world can become darker or more colourful. The music can become harder, quieter, simpler or more complex. What matters is that it continues to come from the same place — somewhere internal that is difficult to describe directly.

CLAI is where sound, colour and feeling meet — to make something internal visible.
